This probably would have been much easier with the full version, which I may end up buying, eventually. But, by copying the existing audio track to a further point in the timeline, I was able to double-click and edit the start and ending points of the second audio clip to synchronize with the new video clip. Instead of giving me green parallel lines, indicating that it would allow me to copy or drag-n-drop to the indicated position, I got red parallel lines and the cursor turned into the "international symbol for 'NO'", the red circle with a diagonal line through it. Somehow, I was able to copy the audio section from a video clip in the timeline (it's own audio track was locked to the video, which I muted) to the audio track a couple lines below, but couldn't duplicate this with any other video clips in the timeline. Well, since the 12-minute capture from the DV Cam had several takes of the 30-second skit, and I wanted to basically "cut and paste" different segments of each take to make a single, 30-second project from the various takes, using the audio from one take wasn't feasible, as not all the audio and video would synch up correctly.Īs you may know from using Pinnacle, when you double-click on any clip segment in the timeline, you're able to edit the start and ending points of that click in a section above the timeline. What solution did you find? I would have done what ice9 suggested. I use Pinnacle and understand what you are doing. Now, I'm at work, so I can't try this right now, but I think that by copying the existing audio clip at the bottom to the space directly afterwards, then adjusting the start and ending position of the clip, I should be able to make this work.Īnyone know if I'm right? Also, are there no classical music-loving John Hughes fans out there? No one knows what tune I'm talking about? Obviously, this is difficult to put into words, and if one has never used Pinnacle, or has never tried to do something similar to what I'm trying to do, it's going to be challenging to comprehend. The clips of the customer nodding don't need their audio tracks, so I need to extend the previous video clip's audio track over that.

I can't use the audio track of one "take" (I use quotes because, as indicated in the original post, everything was filmed in one continuous take) for the entire project because I'm using video from different "takes" where the audio from a previous "take" won't synch up correctly. So you'll have one audio track with the dialogue, several video tracks with your different angles and your music track below. SO why can't you extract the audio from one of the takes and use that as the base audio track for the project?. Assistance with the Pinnacle Studio issue, along with a little smug nose-thumbing from a classical music buff who, out of the kindness of his/her heart, might throw me a bone as to the name of "that song", would be greatly appreciated.

I only know that it's playing in the background in chapter 17 of "Some Kind of Wonderful", where the Lea Thompson character and the Eric Stoltz character are staring at the Beluga Caviar.

I'm using the horribly crippled ATi version that came with my AGP AIW X800 Pro, FWIW.īTW, off-topic, but I want to put some restaurant music in the background, and have settled on that cliche, fancy-restaurant, classical music song you hear in every French Restaurant movie scene, but I don't know the name and can't find it. I was able to take the audio clip of one video clip of the waitress and extend the audio to a video clip of the customer nodding (quite seamlessly, too), but I can't seem to duplicate this (essential) effect for subsequent clips. It takes place in a restaurant, with a waitress giving her schpiel about the specials, while the customer listens and nods, mostly. I filmed a 30-second skit several times in one take (from different angles),with the hope of being able to edit bits and pieces together, making it look like it was filmed with several cameras. I'm working on a small video editing project for work.
